MQTT Live Broadcast

Masjid Quba publishes an MQTT message every time the masjid Transmitter is turned ON and turned OFF. This is significant as it allows automations based on these events such as playing the Masjids internet live stream on smart speakers such as Google or Alexa.

In simple terms, when the transmitter comes on, so does your Google Nest hub or Amazon Echo device and its plays the Adhaan and when the transmitter is turned off, the smart speaker goes back to being your smart speaker.

What makes this system stand out is that it can work anywhere in world but even if your have poor radio reception near the Masjid.
Most people already have these smart speakers in their house and often its in locations where it can be heard.

The Server address for the broker is broker.hivemq.com
The MQTT Topic to subscribe to is QubaLive

Unfortunately, its not a simple setup but if you know how to use MQTT and would like to try it out, we can offer assistances.
We use Node red to publish the MQTT message. You can then use Node Red, Home Assistant or similar to receive the message and cast it to your smart speaker.
You can use a Raspberry Pi to run the software.
In testing it has been working very well Alhamdulillah.
