Awqaat App Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the Awqaat Masjid Quba Android application (“the app”) handles your information.

Who we are

The app is operated by Masjid Quba, a mosque based in Hackney, East London. You can contact us at the mosque or via our website at mquba.org.

What information the app collects

Your name, email address, or any personal details
Your location or GPS data
Your contacts, messages, or call history
Your device’s camera or microphone (except when you choose to use the recording feature)
Any account or login credentials
Information the app uses
Prayer times data
Prayer times are downloaded from a Google Sheet published by Masjid Quba. This is a one-way download — no information about you is sent.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token
When you install the app, Google Firebase assigns your device a unique anonymous token. This token is used to deliver push notifications (announcements and prayer time updates) to your device. We do not store or have access to this token — it is managed entirely by Google Firebase. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Locally stored data
The app stores prayer times, alarm settings, and saved stream presets on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is not shared with us or any third party.
Audio recordings

If you use the recording feature, recordings are saved locally on your device. They are not uploaded or shared unless you explicitly choose to share them using the share function.

Third-party services
The app uses the following third-party services:
Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging)
Used to deliver push notifications. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Google Sheets
Prayer times are fetched from a publicly published Google Sheet. No personal data is sent to Google as part of this request.
livemasjid.net
The live audio stream for Masjid Quba is served by livemasjid.net. Connecting to the stream may log your IP address on their server in the same way as any internet connection. See livemasjid.net for their privacy practices.
hackneyjamah.com

The Local Masaajid section displays content from hackneyjamah.com within a restricted browser view. Your device connects directly to their website when this section is opened.

Announcements

When Masjid Quba publishes an announcement on our website (mquba.org), the app may receive a push notification and display the announcement content. This content originates from our website and is fetched via the WordPress REST API. We do not track whether you read or interact with announcements.

Children’s privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is suitable for all ages and contains no user-generated content or social features.

Your rights

Since the app does not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have any concerns, please contact us via mquba.org.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
